Irene: Stop, Breathe, Be Human Again

Community & Social Media Manager · Italy

"Doing something you feel like doing just because you feel like doing it— —is wonderful."

"Try, whenever you can, to stop and breathe."

Irene came to Ca’Co to spend some time in the Apennines and get away from the pressure of always having to be productive, up-to-date, and live up to expectations. Here, she has rediscovered the value of rest, of taking things slowly, and of the simple things: sleeping, reading, watching a movie, eating well, and allowing herself the time to simply be a person.

Lucas: From Brazil to the Apennines, in Search of Nature and Community

From Brazil

"What I'd like to bring to Brazil is a sense of ' '—a sense of community."

"If the doors are open, I'll go back there."

Lucas came to Ca’Co looking for an experience that was closer to nature, the outdoors, and community life. He would like to take with him to Brazil the sense of community he found in the house and leave behind at Ca’Co a bit of the joy of his own country. His hope is to continue living more mindfully and maintain a deeper connection with nature.

Veronica: Developing a Project and Feeling Free to Put Yourself Out There

From Udine, Italy

"This sense of community arises spontaneously."

"You can open up without feeling judged."

Veronica came to Ca’Co to develop her social enterprise project, “ ,” together with asylum seekers. What she emphasizes most about her experience is the community that emerged spontaneously: a setting where people can express themselves without feeling judged, surrounded by nature yet, at the same time, deeply social.

So Many Different Ways to Experience Coliving

There is no single Ca’Co experience.

Life in the house changes with the people who live there, with the seasons, with their plans, and with the time each person chooses to devote to shared activities. Some moments arise spontaneously over dinner; others during a workday, a walk, an event, or a gathering in town.

However, certain themes recur in all these stories:

  • the opportunity to have a personal space without living in isolation;
  • encounters with people, skills, and different paths;
  • an environment suitable for remote work;
  • a pace of life more in tune with nature and the character of the village;
  • the freedom to engage in community life at one’s own pace;
  • an opportunity to take a fresh look at the way they live and work.

A shared home, not an organized vacation

Ca’Co is not a hotel and does not require guests to socialize.

Each Coliver resident has their own space and independence, but lives in a home where the kitchen, garden, coworking space, shared experiences, and certain aspects of daily life can be shared.

Community is not a ready-made product: it takes shape through people’s willingness to get to know one another, respect one another, and contribute—even in small ways—to life together.

It is precisely this balance between privacy, independence, and relationships that makes every stay unique.

A coliving community within a region

Living in Ca’Co also means discovering Pennabilli and the Apennines that surround it.

The town, the trails, the cultural activities, the local organizations, and the people of the area are not just a backdrop. They are part of the experience and offer the chance to get an insider’s view of a vibrant, creative, and welcoming rural area.

For some, it’s a refreshing break. For others, it’s an opportunity to find a new balance between work and life. For still others, it can be a first step toward a more lasting connection with inland areas.

Could this be your experience as well?

If you’re looking for a place where you can work remotely, live surrounded by nature, and meet new people without giving up your independence, Ca’Co can be a place to call home—not just a place to visit.
